Is the magical strain in each person so limited that only 11 schools can educate them all? But even four additional new schools won’t be enough to appease my uneasy feeling toward there being only 11 wizarding schools on the face of the planet. I’ll preface this by saying that I am still holding out for information on the other four schools and that it occurred to me that judging this incomplete information may seem a little unfair. Why? Because these four new schools– Ilvermorny, Castelobruxo, Uagadou, and Mahoutokoro–were located in North America, South America (Brazil), Africa, and Japan, respectively. I breezed excitedly through the article, but in the end, it gave me so many feelings that I ranted to at least three people. So even though my eleventh birthday passed (and my twelfth, thirteenth, all the way to my seventeenth) without my ever getting a letter and I eventually outgrew the series, I could always hold on to the hope that maybe somewhere in Harry’s world, there is a Philippine wizarding school and I or some fictional character like me was magic enough to attend.įast forward around a decade later. The Harry Potter fandom was recently abuzz with Pottermore’s release of information on four of eight other wizarding schools (not counting Beauxbatons, Durmstrang, and Hogwarts). He supposed, now that he saw representatives of so many nationalities in the campsite, that he had been stupid never to realize that Hogwarts couldn’t be the only one. Harry laughed but didn’t voice the amazement he felt at hearing about other wizarding schools. But then, I read a phrase that I didn’t realize the magical potency of until years later: Like so many other Harry Potter fans, I was hoping against hope that Hogwarts was real and that I’d get a letter inviting me to attend (of course, no such thing happened). Uagadou is my new home now.I read Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire the year I turned 11.
UAGADOU SCHOOL OF MAGIC MOVIE
Jessica Francoise posted on Facebook that, she wants to become an actress so that when they finally make a movie about Uagadou, she can play a headmistress or a teacher. Rowling writes a book about Uagadou, where she reveals in-depth information about it, including it’s houses. No other school employs this method of pupil selection. The Dream Messenger will appear to the children as they sleep and will leave a token, usually an inscribed stone, which is found in the child’s hand on waking. Students receive notice that they have gained entrance at Uagadou from Dream Messengers, sent by the headmaster or headmistress of the day. The long list of celebrated ex-students produced by Uagadou includes Babajide Akingbade, who succeeded Albus Dumbledore as the Supreme Mugwump of the International Confederation of Wizards. Many older and more experienced witches and wizards felt threatened by fourteen-year- olds who could turn at will into elephants and cheetahs, and a formal complaint was lodged with the International Confederation of Wizards by Adrian Tutley (Animagus: gerbil). Student from Uagadou by Michael Nozinich.Īt a recent International Symposium of Animagi, the Uagadou School Team attracted a lot of press when their exhibition of synchronised transforming caused a near riot. Many spells are cast simply by pointing the finger or through hand gestures, instead of a wand. Uagadou graduates are experts in Astronomy, Alchemy and Self- Transfiguration, just like the ancient scholars of Timbuktu.

I believe this is what Uagadou looks like from a distance. The school is a stunning edifice, carved out of the mountainside and shrouded in mist, so that it sometimes appears simply to float in mid-air. “Mountains of the Moon” is an ancient term referring to the Rwenzori Mountains of Uganda at the source of the Nile River. The school is located in the “Mountains of the Moon”. Yes, it’s larger than Hogwarts! It welcomes students from all over the continent. Uagadou is located in Uganda, and it is the largest of all wizarding schools. The school is called, Uagadou School of Magic. I am a HUGE Harry Potter fan, and now I’m even a bigger fan since J.K. “Uagadou will always be there to welcome you home.” Map of Uagadou, School of Magic.
